The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza, St. Louis

A grand Central West End landmark that still knows how to look after a guest — from the cabana loungers to the last plate served at the Chase Club.

An arrival that set the tone for the stay

Check-in was easy from the first minute: the desk was ready for us, the process took only a few minutes, and every staff member we dealt with at the front desk was genuinely helpful rather than just efficient.

Questions about the pool hours and the Chase Club were answered on the spot, and we left the desk with a room key and a clear sense of how the rest of the stay would work.

The verdict after two nights in St. Louis

"Check-in and the Chase Club made this stay: a fast, helpful arrival and one of the most elegant dinners we've had at a hotel. The pool itself was great, though the cabana service needed a reminder to bring drinks, and Gold Tier breakfast opened later than our morning allowed. Room service was fast and accurate, just deserved a proper glass for the soft drinks. We would still book the same suite again."
